The Women’s Basic Handgun Skill Builder course makes use of dry-fire practice and live-fire practice in short sessions to target skills such as fundamentals, reloads, malfunctions, and various distances. These 1-hour practice sessions are led by a female instructor who will teach at the pace and skill level of the individual students. The exact material will vary and will be highly flexible. The class will end with a live-fire session on the range.
Students should be comfortable with their handgun and must have completed the Intro to Handgun course, Concealed Handgun Permit course, or have similar experience and confidence to shoot safely around others. Higher-level students will also be challenged as they get back to the basics with increased demands.

Required equipment is available to rent before class, offering a great opportunity to try a handgun before committing to a purchase. Or if you already know what you’d like, you can buy one of our firearms outright. Personal gear is allowed, as long as it complies with the class requirements.
Eye and ear protection: ($2-3 Rental)
Handgun (pistol or revolver): Must be in safe, working condition, unloaded, and stored in a case before arrival ($15 Rental)
50 rounds of ammunition: Available for purchase on-site. Please call ahead if you need uncommon calibers or during ammo shortages
What to Wear to Your Beginner Handgun Training Course
We care about your safety, which is why we recommend you wear the following to your handgun proficiency course:
Eye and ear protection
Closed-toe, durable shoes or boots
Comfortable clothing that can easily adjust to the temperature of both the classroom and shooting range
A belt sturdy enough to support your holster and firearm
Avoid low-cut tops, tank tops, or clothing with excessive openings that could allow hot brass to contact your skin
Intro to Handgun Training Eligibility Requirements
Students must be at least 18 years old unless accompanied by a parent or guardian. Signing a waiver is required to take this beginner gun training class, and the signer must present a valid, current, government-issued I.D.

Our Intermediate Handgun training courses are designed for shooters looking to enhance their defensive skills and build upon the foundation established in the Basic Handgun training courses. Intermediate Handgun levels 1 through 3 focus on mastering efficient firearm handling through ready positions and carry techniques. Students will improve precision shooting and soft-sighted fire while learning reload techniques and shooting at various distances.

Intermediate Handgun Course Structure
Intermediate Handgun is divided into three progressive levels. Upon passing the final level, students qualify to take the Intermediate Qualification. Completion of all Basic Handgun levels and passing the qualification are required unless waived by the training department.
This course builds on foundational skills, emphasizing precision, speed, and proficiency. Key areas include refining high-ready and high-carry positions, reload techniques, and immediate action drills under time pressure.

Handgun Skill Builder course
Handgun Skill Builder classes are now divided into two different levels: Basic Fundamental Skills and Intermediate Skills. Both levels are on a three-month rotation of our curriculum. Students should take Intro to Handgun and either Basic Handgun Level #1, or the Nebraska Concealed Carry Permit class and be comfortable drawing from a holster before starting the Basic Fundamental Skill Builder. You can rent a gun and holster, but you should eventually try and get your own holster for this class. Bi-weekly Shooting Competition
Shooters will be given a competitive course of fire and an instructor will run them through the course. Shooters must have a belt, approved holster, and several magazines. There will be moving and shooting involved. The winner of each week will receive a free entry into next weeks competition. We will rotate between IDPA rule, USPSA, Steele Challenge, 2 gun, and other competition styles.
